Arthur Streeton (1867 - 1943)
|
Born in Melbourne in 1867. Arthur Streeton is best remembered for his rural landscape paintings. Arthur Streeton was good friends with fellow artists Frederick McCubbin and Tom Roberts. It was these three artists and their regular Plein Air Painting which ultimately led the artists to become founding members of the renowned Heidelberg School
Arthur Streeton’s skill in rendering distance and atmosphere, his selection of subject and the feeling he evoked of actual participation in the life of the landscape, brought him nationwide popularity and success. He is one of Australia’s most celebrated and influential artists and his work is highly sought after by professional art investors.
