Wit, humour and satire can be employed by artists to successfully convey a message or to tackle challenging issues. This exhibition draws from the University of Melbourne Art Collection and presents work by artists who incorporate humour in their work. A special focus will be the set of Christmas cards made annually by Eric Thake from 1941 to 1975 in which Thakes wry humour and interest in social commentary is evident in his choice of subject matter and emphasis on visual and verbal puns.
