Destined to generate its share of controversy, the Kilgour Prize is a bi-annual acquisitive figurative painting prize in honour of the late Jack Noel Kilgour. Well represented in the Newcastle Region Art Gallery collection, Kilgour is known for his academic modernism, his subjects include urban landscapes and portraiture. Financed by the Kilgour bequest, the most outstanding figurative painting as judged by the selection panel will be awarded an acquisitive cash prize of $30,000.
