Circles, Hearts and Fun!

22 October - 05 November 2006
Art Moment Gallery
Australian contemporary artist Wendy Cohen invites you to take an unforgettable journey into your soul with an exciting exhibition of her latest work at Art Moment Gallery.

Join the artist at the Opening Celebration on Sunday October 22, 3-5pm.
Official opening at 4pm by one of Wendy’s greatest fans – Dr Homi Bahramali, art collector and neuroscientist at Sydney University’s Centre for the Mind.

“Come soar with the stars, say hi to your inner child and most importantly - have fun!” says Wendy of her latest exhibition Circles, Hearts & Fun!
Wendy’s exhibition – a collection of her favourite pieces and latest works - is so-named as most of her paintings feature circles, hearts or eyes.
“The circles are symbolic of eternity and that, in the end, everything comes full circle,” explains Wendy. “The hearts symbolize painting from my heart, leaving the analytical mind behind and love as the absence of fear. The eyes are symbolic of truth and honesty … I believe they are the very windows to the soul.”

Now Wendy urges you to use these ‘windows’ to gain access to your soul as you view her latest works – an expression of her soul in all its colorful dimensions.
“I love to constantly challenge myself and step outside the box and be outrageous!”

One of Wendy’s passions is to travel and she draws on her fascination of different cultures, traditions and music to produce works that are alive with passion, bursting with colour, yet naïvely child-like and joyful. “My aim is to take my viewers to a magical place full of passion and fun, where there are no boundaries and you can almost feel the vibrations of the ethereal world,” says Wendy. “I hope my viewers will be intrigued and transported to a world of wonder.”

Drawing inspiration from the great masters Picasso, Monet, Modigiliani, Miro, Berislava and our home-grown talents Pro Hart, Ken Done and Brett Whiteley, Wendy says, “I am ultimately motivated by fun, beauty, love, positivity and all that stirs the imagination beyond the literal world”.

Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Wendy began her career painting African tribalism, florals and landscapes in a variety of mixed media.
