The exhbition The crafted object will draw from the Gallery’s extensive collection of Australian craft and design from the period of 1965 to 1985. The exhibition demonstrates the vibrancy of this period, in which studio craft practice flourished in Australia, and includes major works from artists and designers working in ceramics, glass, textiles, costume, metal, jewellery, wood and furniture – spanning subjects and styles as diverse as organic modernism, Japanese influences, social commentary, technological innovation, environmentalism, feminism and post-modernism.
