Between These Walls: The Cambodian Genocide

04 September - 15 September 2006
John Curtin Gallery
In his first public exhibition, Canadian photographer Jonathan Gordon explores the architectural remnants of Cambodia's Polpot genocide. Long after the people involved have moved on or died, the Phnom Penh SS21Tuol Sleng torture facility stands as a testament to the severity of this modern tragedy. The photographs challenge the viewers understanding of cultural war, organised violence and the role of the bystander in large-scale conflicts.
