An incomplete world: works from the UBS Art Collection

28 September - 06 January 2008
National Gallery of Victoria
The UBS Art Collection represents the works of many of the most critically acclaimed and influential artists of the second half of the twentieth century to the present day. An incomplete world draws from the collection a range of paintings, photographs, sculptures and works on paper that reflect artists’ preoccupations with the body, persona and portraiture; the built world and its continual transformation; and the landscape and its subjection to human imperatives and desires. An incomplete world reveals a world in flux – where the contrasting forces of order and chaos, of vulnerability and stability, and of nature and culture condition our sense of self and the spaces we inhabit.
