Using the French Revolution and the last few months of Marie Antoinette’s life as a loose stylistic backdrop, Soft Guillotine creates a theatrical mise en scene, complete with inanimate actors, empty costumes, and unused properties. Soft Guillotine proposes a domestic exploration of the condemned Queen’s final fashion statement and references the human form in extremis or literally ‘amid the final things’.
